I've installed The Film Machine and I get this same error whenever I try to encode a movie

    Avisynth open failure:
AVIsource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc DIV4
    C:\program files\the film machine output\TFM_Avisynth_script_file.avs, line 2)

I've got installed both QuEnc and HCenc and tried removing one each to see what happened.

By the way, I've also used Avi2DVD and got the same exact error message!

    Any idea why?

    Thnx!

Your Problem is you do not have a DivX 4 codec installed because from the AVISynth error message it seems to suggest that the Problem is that it can not locate the Codec for the Video file you are useing...Download and Install the DivX Codec and your Problem should be Fixed....

You should also Post the AVIStnth Script here to see if there is an error in the Script.....

    Thnx Minion...

I thought I had installed ALL necessary codecs... how do I know which one is missing? And where do I get them?

Other question... which is the Avisynth script file?

The error message says that you are missing the DivX 4 codec so you can just install the regular Divx codec and it should be OK....

That might not be the Problem it is Just what your error message said that the Problem was....
