I have a PHILIPS SPD2412T P1.3 (ATA)burner, how do I update the firmware of the burner so it would burn mini dvds better.

I use the TDK mini dvd-r 1-2x but when I burn with 1x speed with imgburn it uses 2x instead, so how do I get it to burn at 1x.

    thanks in advance

    Check club.cdfreaks.com

If you have good media and a good drive you should not have to burn at 1x. I burn mine at Max speed in the free Imgburn burner and I get good burns. The only reason you would reduce the burn speed is if you are not getting good burns at higher speeds. The thing is that most media nowadays is made to be burnt at higher speeds and thus actually gives you better burns at higher speeds.

Often those mini DVDs are not rated at very high speed, but will usually burn better at higher speeds like 4x and 8x if it's a newer type of media.

I use Verbatum printable mini-dvd's that burn at 8x speed.

I also use Nero to burn the ISO image and never have a problem
