hi i need step by step instructions on making a working back-up copy of battlefield 1942 using alcohol 120.
I believe Battlefield 1942 is Safedisc 2.6 copy protection. Download A-Ray Scanner and double check. http://www.aray-software.com/index.php?showtopic=52 This is right out of a sticky thread: Settings I used with Alcohol 120 1.4.3.518: ----------------------------------------------- Insert the Safedisc 2.8-2.9 protected cd in your burner and go to image making wizard. Down near the bottom where it says datatype choose Safedisc 2 (fast skip error blocks& skip read error should be checked and click next. Make a new folder on your hd and save the image of your Safedisc 2.8-2.9 protected cd and click start. You'll see during the extraction process read errors so ignore as this is common reading Safedisc 2.8-2.9 as bad sectors are located in the first 10, 000 sectors of the protected cd. After you've finished reading the image insert a blank cd-r in your burner and click image burning wizard. Near the top locate the image you just read to your hd and click next. Down near the bottom where it says datatype, choose Safedisc 2 and burn RAO DAO at max. After you've burned the image now open Alcohol 120 go to options>general>emulation and check "ignore media type" . Go to extra emulation and check Bad Sector& Laserlock emulation. Minimize Alcohol 120 to system tray (startup) and your backup should play in your burner, not your dvd\cd-rom . If Alcohol 120 fails to write when you choose datatype (Safedisc 2), then change to custom and try again as I had to . Alcohol 120 is best for backing up Safedisc (for now as Macrovision continually updating Safedisc versions). Good Luck Weycraze
Thanks for the help Weycraze, one more question can i play it on another computer that doesn't have alcohol?
If you used any of the emulation options then you won't be able to play it on a system that doesn't have A120 installed.
so i won't???so if ignore media type and bad sector and laserlock were checked it won't work in a pc without alcohol??
