I just got a PS3 and now I finally have a Blu-Ray player. I was wondering though, is there any way yet to backup Blu-Ray movies? Is it as easy as DVD movies or is it harder? What hardware and/or software do I need? I alreayd have DVDFabPlatinum and it has the Blu-Ray ripping/burning option but I don't have a blu-ray burner. I guess that's the only thing I need?
The Lite-On SATA BluRay Burner is on sale for less than $300: http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...ode=344526&cm_ite=CompUSA+Logo&cm_cat=1066642
I think the last day of the sale for the LiteOn BluRay burner was Sunday the 24th. Keep an eye out for future price drops at techbargains.com.
Cool thanks. That was a great deal. To bad I missed it. Just goes to show the markup on these burners.
2x does not equal the same as DVD. From another site I found this," It completed my 22.5GB burn image (ISO) test file in 43 minutes 20 seconds." I imagine it will take about an 45-60 minutes.
If you install Linux on you PS3 you can dump the Blu-ray games onto the HDD but there is no way of playing them and films dont work yet, I installed Ubuntu on the PS3 and put in RFOM and it loaded up the Blu-ray disc, and I could browse the content.
I have the Lite-on burner and DVDfab but it can't read the disc! Windows Explorer can't recognize the disc either but Cyberlink player can play it just fine! Does anyone know what is going on?
Back up blu rau tool I used is called Office Backup. Know idea where does it come from, but if Download.com Editor gives them a 4 out of 5 stars, than one must think they can't be wrong. Any experience with this or other tools? I'm still using the trial.
You can dump the BD files on the ps3 using a program called SAK. And yes its playable. Send me a pm if you want the link.
That would be really really bad to have a 30$ BD-R Coaster after 45 minutes of burning. It is cheaper to buy the movie again rather than back it up. I would buy one used off of the net and play that one.
Forget ps3 backups.. that's the kid we called out over at ozzu about an "unhackable" linux program he was claiming to have at school (if I remember right) and got silence. AFAIK there is no way to make a playable blu-ray ps3 playable rip yet. The problem is this.. people who could take the time to work it out either can't afford the hardware or hate sony so much they refuse to give them any money whatsoever. I'm in the second group.. I boycott all sony products and media.. spyware and drm my ass!!
well that didn't really answer the question. Has ANYONE actually tested to see if a backup bluray can be played on the ps3? Not using a program to dump it, but an actual backup?
