backing up to external hardrive

    i tried to back up my dvd to an external hardrive and it didnt seem to work. any suggestions would be very helpful thanks

    What you trying to back up? Have you used the external drive before?
    Are you getting error megs etc.

    Rip your DVD using DVD Decrypter. ISO mode- Read. select your external harddrive as the destination for the ISO image instead of your C drive which is the default.

    i tried it with decrypter like you suggested but it burned to the xternal in segments and when i put it on a disc it paused on every segment

    How is you external HD formatted, it sounds like it is formatted to FAT 32.

    If it is FAT32, FAT32 has file limitations of 4Gb maximum, and dvd decrypter will then split it into segments.

    To overcome this the HD should be formatted to NTFS as there are no limitations to file sizes then.

    An ISO should really give you a couple of files, .mds and .iso (I think)
