    Hey,
I just ordered the xbox chameleon le s (solderless) modchip. I know you can back up games on the hard drive, but if I dont want to do that, ....well...these are my ?'s:
What do i do first! I believe I download the Evolution X m7 bios, make a cd, put that in the drive, install it (over-write other bios) AFTER THAT i install the dashboard, correct? With chameleon le s and cromwell 2.27, what dashboard should I use??? Should I use the evolution x dashboard version 3921 ??
Lastly.......I own 12 games right now. I only want to backup my "Roadkill" game. I have a dvd-burner that burns dvd-/+ r and dvd-/+rw Will this chip play the backup of my own game, or MUST I burn it to the xbox? How many games can a standard hard drive hold?? Thanks for the help, a lot! Greatly appreciated.

yes get the evox dash, there are others but most commpn is the evox. and yes you can burn games to dvd, you will hav to try + and - because different version xboxes have different dvd drives in them. but yes burning them to s disc will work, you just have to make sure you make an iso image of the disc, but you can find that in other parts of the forums or in tutorials

OK, one more question. I was wondering. I plan on backing up all my games to dvd-r or some dvd+r, idk I'll find a working brand but im saying I DO NOT plan on using the hdd, so do I need a dashboard? What does it do? I now know to first, install the new evolution x m7 bios, but IDK if i need to go through the trouble of a dashboard. I guess I dont know because I dont know what it does, but thats what Im asking you. What does it do and do i need it! Heh, thanks!!

You will need the EvolutionX dash running on the Xbox to create an FTP server from your XBox so you can transfer the game files from your Xbox to your PC.
You don't need to have it installed on the harddrive, you can load it from a boot disc just when you wanna back up a game.

    Ok,
So damn, I need the dashboard. How do I go about installing it. I first put on the new bios. (I already downloaded the Evolution X build 3921 version. It has a folder of : 1) Bios (2) Skin (3) Trainers Then trainsers source.zip, the "Evolution x build 3921.nfo" , evox.ini, evoxdash.xbe, and the readme. So if im correct, install new bios, then make a cd-rom iso w/ all those files, put this in the drive and install it? I need to use this cd once or everytime I burn a new game or what? So the only way to burn xbox games to dvd-r is by hooking it up to the pc? Thanks for helping with all these questions! Ill shut up after this ! Thanks again. Greatly appreciated, sorry just a noobie.

    Oh yea,
One more thing. I heard that if I run evolution x on bootdisc only, I need to get an ejectfix bios so my xbox doesn't reboot everytime I eject the bootdisk.....is this true?? Where can I get the software? Do I need to solder then too?

Also, I dont have a 2nd network card, but I have a 4 port router, that would work for hooking up my xbox to my pc right??

    Thanks again.

You would need an Eject fix bios is your gonna load the dash from disc and then swap disc's for a game.
After the chip is installed and flashed you will need to make an Xbox ISO image of the dash and burn that ISO to disc. DVD R and RW's will work the best.
You can use the Router to Network your Xbox just make sure the EvolutionX dash is not set to a Static IP.

So install the new bios, install the dashboard, THEN install the bios for the eject fix?? Thanks

You can start with the Eject fix bios. Doesn't matter.

EvolutionX D.6 EjectFix is the name of the bios you should get. it might have a color attached to the end (EvolutionX D.6 EjectFix blue). theat just changes the color of the X when you start up

The newest Evox bios is the M7. Works with all versions including the v1.5 Xbox.

    Ok,
Got my chip in the mail today. I am about to put it in once I hear your response. So would this sequence be correct:

    1) Install Chip
    2) Put in the Evolution X M7 Bios Cd into drive when it asks for it, Install
    3) Install the Dashboard
    4) Install the ejectfix
    5) Play my games....

Yes but instead of flashing the chip twice. Once with the M7 bios and then again with the M7 Eject fix bios, just use the Eject Fix bios the first time when you make your bios disc.

    Ok, so:

    3) Install the Evolution X Dashboard
    4) Play my games....

    Right?

it's easy. you have a verion 1.1 Xbox most lilkely with a phillips drive. The LPC points are easy to remove, i had to do it. just get a solder gun with a fine tip, a desoldering tool and your ready to go. Take out the motherboard and heat the solder in the whole you need to remove, and from the other side of the motherboard have a friend suck out the solder with a desolder tool (it is a pump type tool that sucks out the solder when it's heated, you can buy it at radio shack)...after the holes are cleared, you can put in the solderless adapter.

How is it a solderless adapter if i have to solder! I have no soldering tools, my xbox is in pieces, and no, I have a 1.0 xbox. I have been messing with this for like an hour! It supposively "Takes 10 minutes" I am not going to solder and end up messing up and ruining my motherboard. This chip is NOT what is says then. And the manual on the website does not match what my motherboard looks like. Like the point.... "r7d5" is on the SIDE of where the adapter plugs in, yet on the website it says its in front where the wire plugs into "D0" I am so confused! Help!

    Ok,
I guess my dad knows how to solder, so i should:

    -Take out motherboard
-Go to those LPC Points, solder them out w/ a SOLDER IRON (no such thing as a desolder'er right, or at least...I wouldnt need one?!?)
Then put adapter on, which requires no soldering, just push it through the NOW OPEN LPC holes, put in DO wire on my older version motherboard, and then put chip on and I'm done???

Also, my there is more LPC points then there is pinholes for my adapter. Would it be ok to solder them all anyway, or no?? Would it casue harm? I want to thank you now greatly for helping me. About the last comment talking about how the pictures dont match up, I found other pictures elsewhere that show my older type of motherboard, so I now know where the DO hole is, so just exclude that question. Thanks.

    3) Install the Evolution X Dashboard
