I was trying to burn my backed up Mafia files with Nero at 12x and it won't be recognized by EvoX. I read somewhere that it has to be burned at 4x but then read somewhere else that if you have a PC DVD-ROM drive, then you can burn it at whatever. I have the Samsung 616t drive, so I though it would work.

Does the game have to be burned at 4x, or is something different going on?

the higher the burn speed the higher the chance for errors in your media. Some game files are only 14kb, if your burning at 10mbps you can understand why there is a high problem with backups at this speed. Burn it at 4x and see how you go.

P.s what dvd media supports 12x burning?

thanks, I'll try that and get back to you tomorrow.

the media I use for 12x is Verbatim/MCC DatLife Plus DVD+R 8x, that is certifiable up to 12x, and so far it has worked fine for every movie I've backed up with no coasters

yeah, i thought the speed wouldnt matter much and plus i have a high quality Plextor drive to help me out. what i am asking is: do Xboxes just not read certain types of media?

on a side note, does EvoX allow you to play DVD video backups? if it does, then i know it is my media, because it won't play any of my DVD video backups.

i used craxtion to make an xiso, and yes, i used open and then selected the iso under the "Image File (ISO,NRG,CUE)" and it gave me the foreign image window and then i burned it.

as for the media, youre saying that i need DVD-R? does +R just not work? it looks like i wasted 2 perfectly good DVD+Rs but thanks for that, as it prevents me from wasting any more.

i guess i'll just buy some DVD-Rs and try them burned at 4x.

    thanks,

stick to -r's if you know they work coz xbox's have 3 different drives in them, some of them are a bit touchy with certain media, use dvd decrypter to burn your iso, nero can be a pain in the ass sometimes with its foreign image properties, let me know how you get on.

a dvd+r burner will only burn on dvd+r discs and viceversa for a dvd-r burner.
