I'm very new to Nintendo DS and I've been reading around and just want to verify some things... please be easy on me! :)

From what I understand I only need a M3 DS Simply and micro sd card (not sdhc, so 1gb or 2gb tops.) Do you really not have to do anything to the DS Lite itself? It seems too simple. Is it really a matter of inserting the micro sd card into the M3 DS Simply and inserting that into your DS Lite and playing the games? What are the chances of bricking it using this method? Seems it would be extremely slim to none!

    Thanks.

Pretty much right on the money there.

Of course you could get a cycloDS or an M3Real instead of the simply and then you can use microSDHC cards up to 32gigs and have action replay cheat code functions as well.

    Thanks!

No, you dont need the passcard. And you actually have it backwards. What the passcard did was let you run DS roms from a GBA-based flash cartrage. It requires a GBA flashcart to work and does not let you play GBA games.

If you want to play GBA roms then you can need a GBA-slot ram expansion. M3 makes one that is often sold in a bundle with the M3Real. Or you can get one separately, such as an EZFlash 3-in-1 cart.

I think I'm more confused now... sorry.

Ok, so in order to run DS games through the DS game slot I would need the M3 or cycloDS? And in order to run the DS games through the GBA slot I would need the Passcard3? Am I even close?? lol

To clarify, I do NOT want to play GBA games at all... just DS games. Thanks!

hello mate if all you want to do is play ds games then it is very easy .

all you need is a flashcart and what i mean by a flashcart is either of the following cyclods evolution , edge ds , m3ds real , supercard sd one or acekard .

any of the above will play nds games without any probs and reviews for each flashcart ive mentioned can be found here - http://gbatemp.net/index.php?dynamic=8#slot1

also you will need a micro sd memory card , how big is up to you 1 , 2 , 4 , 8 gb and so on .........

so to clarify all you need to play nds games is example - cyclods evolution and a memory card .

hope that helps to clarify all you need .

    woof811.

ps. a cyclo ds evolution , edge ds , m3ds real , supercard sd one or acekard are all well built , well supported and wont let you down.

**** IMPORTANT **** - Dont buy any version of r4ds they are all fakes and you will have nothing but trouble with it , just a warning .

Right. The reason you're getting confused is because the Passcard3 is very old. It was known as a passme device. Games were passed from the GBA slot cart to the passcard where they were played. Again though, this was very old. When the passcard3 came out it was cutting edge. But passme devices havent been used for quite a while.

If you dont care about GBA games then just get any of the standard microSDHC carts. CycloDS, M3Real, Acekard2, exc, all are fine. Just avoid the R4 series as woof811 said.

Quick question... I'm located in Canada and I can't seem to find any place that sells either the cyclos or m3. Does anyone know of a reputable place I could get it from? And how much should it be costing me, besides the micro sd card because I can get that anywhere here in town...

    Thanks!
