Cannot back up my DVD of Independence Day, Matrix or Matrix Revolution. Have tried using the TDFs for Matrix movies but get a CSS error and Independence Day acts like it finishes in about 30 seconds and want to finalize. Any suggestions?
gary51, Try these - Shrink download - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm Shrink Guide - http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink_3.htm They'll break down your movie and prepare it to be copied - HINT: Before you start, create a folder on your desktop to use as a destination folder, you'll need it when you hit "Backup" in Shrink - Download this Nero (unless you already have it) Shrink will need it to burn your backup ;-) A 30 day, free, fully functional Nero 6 download can be had here: http://www.nero.com/us/631939541422774.php Enjoy your backups and Welcome to our little corner of the net ;D Pete _X_X_X_X_X_[small]The “old man” Pete (ö¿ô) Compaq 8000, Pent 4 CPU 2.84GHz, 1GB RAM. 340GB HD, 7200 (Maxtor 120, Western 200 & 20. 4 Drives, JLMS DVD ROM, HP DVD Writer 200j, Nec 4X DVD RW ND-1300A & AXV CD/DVD-ROM. What Pete suggested is a completely different way of doing the movie backup. There are countless problems with DVD X COPY software. Some get it to work, most don't. Plus DVDShrink gives you better control over the complete process. Give it a try, you will probably not go back to X copy. Jerry
gary51, You never mentioned you were using DVD XCopy - If you wish to stay at that level, start the movie playing on your desktop then open XCopy and it should open it - I don't believe it's a movie that XCopy has trouble with - Most of us (me included) started out with DVD XCopy until we learned just how badly we were taken advantage of - - As a parting gift for being a contestant in our game, let me present you with 321Gone, a pretty nice little program to eliminate that "Pesky" little Warning at the beginning of all XCopy Xpress backups ;D ~ http://psidoc0.tripod.com/ Enjoy, Pete
Do you require a progressive DVD player to use play back ups od DVDs. I heard some where you would need to and then I've heard the cheapedr the DVD player the better.
Hi Gary, Progressive scan players are supposed to be better, but not really necessary to play dvd backups. It seems the cheap $40. Apex players play just about everything you throw into them. I would just make sure you buy a dual format player that plays both +R and -R recorded media. Then see what combination or brand it likes the best. Jerry
