Ok, before my desktop (Windows XP) system decided to pack it in, I had no issues backing up movies with DVDfab, shrink, and nero. Well I have purchased a laptop with Microsoft Vista and this is where I think I am running into problems. Everything seems to backup without any issues, but when I try to playback in my standalong dvd player, the problems occur. Everything starts fine ...previews etc. but will not play the menu. If I try to call up the menu it appears to jump to a chapter well into the movie and I can't go back (appears to loop). I have also tried in another dvd player and my xbox 360 with no luck. Now this isn't movie specific as the other two movies I tried to backup did similiar things. One even went to the credits when the menu button was hit. Now if I play the disc in the laptop, everything works fine...menu appears and plays like a normal dvd. I have tried shrink and nero (latest version), DVDfab, shrink and nero...all with the same results. I even clicked on the Windows XP compatibility service pack 2 mode with the same results. Any suggestions??
Hi, my friends in the know say that vista has a lot of DRM issues and backing up programs may not be compatible with it (vista). At jefflevy.com he has free fix it lessons for vista (especially vista lesson #20 ). If after visiting his web site and no answer is found, then maybe you may need 2 go back to Xp.
iluvendo - i keep seeing the same reply from you, you know the idea of Afterdawn is to help people here.. ..also you're not really helping people yourself by doing that, you're just pushing people off to read someone else's information, somewhere else.. see where i'm coming from ?..
