hi, today i took the hd from my old computer and added it on to my main computer, everything worked fine, so i got this idea on takeing the fan from my old computers power supply and add the fan to my main computer also, but the problem is that the power supply has only 2 pins and my main computer has a 3 pin section for an extra fan, should i or should i not put this new fan on my computer? my core voltage rating is 1.750v but i cant find how much voltage my power supply is giving me, if needed can anyone guide me on finding it? thanx
on 1 of your psu sides is a label that has the voltages, amps & watts on it. you might have to take out the psu to see that label. how many fans do you have in total in the case??
should have more as i'm running a total of 9 fans in my system. can use that fan from the old psu if the psu doesn't work but will have to modify the connector end to fit on the motherboard. if scrapping old psu than cut off the 3.5" floppy power connector as close the psu casing as you might need all that wire to connect to the fan. or you can buy a case fan for about $5 to $10
well i modified it, since the fan from the power supply only had 2 holes at the end of the connector i put it into the mother board which had 3 slots, and it hasnt shown anyproblems on running it, but the thing i dont understand is how can uhave 9 fans, cuz i only have 2 spots to put the fan in, and one is already taken by the cpu, and the other one just got taken by the new fan i added, how can i add omre fans cuz i have 1 fan left over from my old cpu
hd- 2fan, psu- 2fans, cpu- 1fan, videocard- 1fan, casefan, system fan, rom drive fan. all fans except cpu & psu use the 5.25" power connectors
