    Spyware and all that crap is like legal hacking. They should be banned, fined, and put in a dark cold cellar with no lights, and lots of rats, big ones, hungry ones.. Yeah..

    I got caught by some and i can't get rid of it. I need to reformat. At the moment i have a few app running all the time so it's kinda bearable.

    They should really come up with something very fast.

    I have an amazing collection of adware/spyware/malware cleaners... All work to a certain extent, but they always come back... Not gonna bother anymore, i got it under control just can't delete them permanently...

    I figured you probably tried most all of the programs, but it was worth a shot. Many times re-formatting will do a good job of bringing back speed and life to the compter, but i almost never have a current back up. It would be a real pain to re-install everything if you didn't have a back up, and if you use a backup, how would you know if you are not just re-installing the hidden crap?

    @ddp
    I heard about it but never tried using it, is that the one where you add a '-' to the reg? It sounds a bit tricky to me... What is your opinion?

    @Max
    Well, i have done a reformat not long ago, so i have all my backups still there on that DVD. Before i had no pop-ups whatsoever...

    But like i said, i tried and retried, and i have it under grabs, so i'll hold on to that for now.

    I don't think i'm confident enough to go about messing with my registrys... I'll go as far as using Registry Mechanic because i know it makes a backup... Hang on, will this backup be a reason why they keep spawning back?

    run ccleaner 1st before running any anti-spyware programs as it will get rid of cookies.

    download, update & run in this order.
    ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/
    cwshredder http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
    ad-aware se
    spybot s&d http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
    online virus & spyware scan http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp

    I pasted your little guide on my notepad. Every day when i switch my machine on, i go through this process. It works fine until i have to restart it or i do a lot of browsing. Normally, before i switch it off i run ccleaner and spybot. ccleaner cleans the cookies but spybot doesn't find anything (normally anyway).

    I think you are on to something there, or is it your on something there?? LOL ...
    Yes, that was what i was wondering about. You have to have a clean/non-infected backup, or you just wind up putting back everything that was there when you backed up in the first place. If spy ware was in on the computer when you made a backup of registry, or the whole computer, it will be there again when you restore.
    Take another hit and think about that one.. :)

    I hope you get it fixed. To me it sounds like you have it band-aided, not fixed. But thats up to you, as to how you want to run your system. Im just here to help, and throw in a funny line or two when i get a chance, not control ppls lives.. :) .
    I can't even control mine.

    - True
    Normally when i run Registry Mechanic, i back them up then i just delete the lot... Looks like i'll have to skip the backing up and go through the reg's one by one...

    That two of us then!! Bring that shooter and the empty bottles! Let's make some noise!
