I have all the programs that I need for ripping, etc. I need a good one for capturing video thru an ADS DVD express from VHS tapes. I have downloaded several trials and freeware but none seem to do it all. The main problem with all the ones that I have tried so far is 1. Being able to place chapters as I want them not just by time 2. Creating a disk menu. I have Studio 11 (came with a camera that I bought) but the disk menu screen is inoperative. Don't know why. ULead 3 was designed for XP doesn't want to work on Vista. DVD shrink and IMGBurn don't seem to fit the bill either. Any suggestions?
try womble mpeg video wizard dvd. It lets you add chapters wherever you want and it also has a basic disc menu (you can even put your own jpeg as a background). It's not a well known software but very powerful (titles/transitions/background audio). I've been using it to edit (remove scenes) from dvd movies.
Same with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 (or Plus), encode's and burn's too. Their audio (pretty awful) or your's, massive installed size but not priced bad right now, 2 version's to choose from: http://www.ulead.com/dmf/compare.htm Out of curiosity, what is Ulead 3, I remember 3.5 came with a Pioneer burner about 3-4 year's ago.
Ulead 3 I bought at a Sam's Club probably 7 or 8 years ago. I used it when I was transferring all of the family tapes to DVD. Did a fine job for that. I changed computers (XP to Vista). The ADS CapWiz still works but the Ulead doesn't. Ulead is no help as they don't even post any updates for this model anymore. I got an email reply from them that said they flat no longer support that version. What I am now doing is transferring all of the wife's dance tapes over. She has a dance studio for little girls any uses them to help teach new generations.
No, 3 sure won't work with Vista, 6 will and pretty sure with Window's 7 as well. Don't know but TMPGEnc DVD Author might fit the bill too. Heard it's quite good.
Just thought that I would let you know that I am trying TMPG (downloaded trail version). It doesn't seem to allow the joining of separate video files. As I am recording parts from several different VHS tapes I end up with separate video files that I want to join into one clip on one DVD with one disk menu and one seires of chapter titles. It also doesn't seem to pick up the chapter flag names as chapter titles. I have sent an email to TMPG and are now awaiting a reply.
You might want to check out Super DVD Creator 9.8 It works well with vista. It's and all-in-one DVD creating and burning software. Good picture quality and conversion speed. The interface is user friendly. Easy cut and merge video and create chapter menus. You can get trial for this dvd burning softwarehere.
You could try Womble EasyDVD, Womble's new released DVD authoring tool. Very intuitive to use, and quick as well. You can click the bottom "Add" button in Source window to join separate video files. It also allows you to add chapters and menus. They provide a 30 day free trial.
free trills and payware.. check out dvd author and dvd flick .. make your files high quality mpeg2 first with something like avidemux so that the authoring app just actually authors instead of transcoding as well. I use dvd author to make disks with animated menus.. just about any way I want them.
I was joining this forum to ask this very question. Funny. I have read all the responses, and there are some programs I am going to check out. But I have a few questions. I've been using DVD-Lab Pro 2, and there are a lot of things that I like about this program. But, the biggest problem I have with the program is that there isn't a way (that I have found) to make a chapter menu. I can add specific chapter points, which is good. But I can't make menus that link to specific points. Is there a good program out there that lets you create your own menus (and more than just adding a background, but actual dynamic menus), but also add chapter selection menus?
Agreed. And I would also recommend you trying womble easydvd if you just want to author a dvd disc simply for it's UI is very user-friendly and intuitive, and yes, you can add chapters wherever you want and create customized menus (adding background music, background video, etc.)
