Any suggestions on a good, reliable DVD burner w/quality scan and Bitsetting as well as being able to write/burn great? I use both DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs, as well as CD-Rs I am ok with either 18x or 20x. Lightscribe does not matter much. Thanks.
LiteOn's sounds like the drive for you. Great drives & meets your requirements. If you're in the US check out newegg for some good deals
So all this was for naught? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/566062 If you have SATA connections available I would suggest the Samsung 203B. EDIT: How many drives are you getting? Surely you are getting confused by all these different suggestions by now. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/563550
Yep might be confusing with all those suggestions @dashelter Best to stick to one thread on your drive ? (forum rules) - makes things less confusing for all. Howdy locoeng
I am getting a couple of drives and would like good, reliable advice. I am not too knowledgeable on these optical drives. I do not have a SATA connection. I want to stick with IDE connection. Do LGs or Samsungs or Pioneers have bitsetting or scanning capabilities? Is it only LiteOn? If so, which ones? Thanks much again!!
Pioneer are excellent burners/readers but don't scan well. LG's are excellent burners/readers and I'm not sure that they scan at all. Lite-On are excellent scanners. I wouldn't buy any other Samsung but the SATA drive ATM.
Now locoeng let's not forget what great burners LiteOn's are too I like Pioneers too but you would need patched firmware (if one was available) to add booktyping support. Not all LG's support booktyping but I think most newer ones do. The LiteOn will booktype, scan and burn great.
All LiteOn's bitset and scan and I'd also say all are good burners. I've used them for years. I don't the 18x or 20x models but others here do and like them. If you're in the US check out the link in my above post for newegg.com
