I am wondering what is the best dvd-rom READER for dvd+rw media, this is for playback not ripping, which drive has the best error correction?
No. I was just saying I had an opinion. If you're just playing DVDs and not ripping it doesn't make a whole lot of difference since DVDs are read at low speed when playing them. The 166 is a most excellent DVD ROM that excels at just about any reading task you'd want. Plus they're cheap _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Gigabyte 8INXP, Intel P4HT 3.06 Mushkin 1024 MB PC2100 Sapphire 9800 Pro Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium/LTD-166S M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Browning Hi-Power[/small]
POINT TAKEN ON THE VERBAGE, I SHOULD CLARIFY THAT I WANT IT TO READ +RW MEDIA, IS IT STILL YOUR OPINION THAT THE 166 IS THEONE?
I hope the all-caps was unintended and that you're not shouting at me. Yes. The 166 will read +R/RW. Here's a link to the specs: www.jlms.com.tw/new_p_E/jlms_165X.htm
not at all, just had the caps lock on, am trying to make a stable sigma decoder based dvd player with dvi output that plays back dvd+rw media back reliably, and you are the first person that responded, so my sincerest thanks, thats why the best error correction is my number 1 priority.
