Hi, I think there is already a thread open about this subject but it didn't really cover my needs. Im just looking for a simple program to edit photo's so I can make wallpapers for my computer. For example, take a look at this Kingdom Hearts 2 Wallpaper: I would love to be able to have a program that could create that. If someone could please give me a name of a program, or just lead me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks heaps, look forward to your comments.

Hi Ireland! Thanks for your help. It was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again, and will be sure to resize my pictures =)
Hey Ireland, I just figured I'd ask you something about this GIMP software. This is the original image: and this is the image after I had finished toying with it: Now I was just wondering if you or someone could let me know how to remove the white around the outside of the characters so that only the characters are there (no white at all) with GIMP. Also, can GIMP make pictures transparent? If so...how? I have been looking through the program and I cant find anything on either of these two topics. Thanks again,
I used a program called microsoft digital image 2006 to remove the white, using the solf tool.after i re-cut the pix out from the one ye posted. which took 5-sec to re-cut. and added the blue in the back ground so ye can see the white around the image is gone.. i do not use gimp

Not sure if I explained myself properly but I decided to use macromedia fireworks to remove the white from the picture. So it was just the characters, no square around it. Ok, thanks heaps
yes transparency on special plastic film to be used on a projector i do it all the time with my printer..
http://i22.tinypic.com/rs4cxi.jpg Is that what you're after? (When you save it and view it on a coloured background it'll be "transparent". If so, it was done with Adobe Photoshop CS2 with the magic wand tool and feather option.
thats what i was after, thanks heaps phlax and ireland. I made these three wallpapers with Microsoft Paint, GIMP, Macromedia Fireworks: (these are my first wallpapers ever made of anything, does any1 like? any tips? thanks heaps!) http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee122/mr_bubbles_rulz/KH2Wallpaper31024x768.png http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee122/mr_bubbles_rulz/KH2Wallpaper21024x768.png http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee122/mr_bubbles_rulz/Wallpaper41024x768.png Hope yous like! Thanks
First one is good, although I think it's a bit cluttered. I don't like the second one as the render sticks out. The third is good, but you need to work on your smudging and blurring techniques. Check out http://guildinn.com for some good tutorials on stuff
thanks for the helpful tips phlax! Whats a render?...lol told u im new at this. And i tried looking but i cant find any links to a "render" guide or what have you. Can you give my a link at the guildinn site, thanks
A render is the cut-out image that you use to make a piece of digital art, be it a wallpaper or signature. And there are no guides in particular, but if you take time to study some of them, you'll quickly pick up useful techniques which you can apply to your own work!
