I've been using Recode2 for a while, but am tired of the size of it, etc. First I rip DVD to my HDD, then I mainly backup the "Main Movie" of them. So which is the best program to use (besides DVDRebuilder) to encode and burn my backups that will give me the same quality as Recode? Thanks.
What do you mean the size of it? Do you mean ripping the DVD to your HDD? You do not need to rip the DVD to your HDD for Nero Recode to transcode the DVD. All you would have to do is run AnyDVD in the background and Nero will then place the work files into your Temp folder and use that to create the transcoded DVD. Any transcoding/encoding program will temporarily place the DVD to your HDD. But usually on the next DVD it will overwrite the previous temp files from the last DVD. If you use a ripper that only rips to the HDD then again you will have to do those steps for any transcoding/encoding program you use on your DVDs. So again I do not understand what you mean when you say the size of Nero Recode2. If your talking about the program file size itself then I can not answer that. But I am sure the size is close to the size for any other transcoding/encoding program out there. And as to the (besides DVDRebuilder)comment. I of course would have recommended DVD-RB for quality backups. As to wanting to know other Apps to use and what is the best to use. You will never get everyone to agree on what program is the best to use. Because everyone has their Favs to use and stick by them. (CloneDVD2/DVDShrink/1Click Copy etc. etc.) Asking what 1 is the best out of all of them is a losing battle.
What exactly you mean when you said; "you're tired of the size of it, etc."? As far as transcoders goes, Nero Recode is the winner. DVD Shrink comes close to Recode, yet some says they're both the same when it comes to "quality." However, Recode is the newly designed and improved version of DVD Shrink (created by the same guy). In my opinion, I'm leaning more toward Nero Recode, however, that's just me. There have been a lot of comparing transcoders (i.e. DVD Shrink vs Nero Recode vs CloneDVD, etc.) laying around the net if you're curious, just google around and you'll see. So your better off staying with Recode.
