    Ok - there are a bunch of programs and guides here listed but can anyone tell me what is the best encoder out there if file-size is not an issue? I plan on ouputting videos from my ipod to a tv and want the best resolution possible even if I have to go to max bitrate scenario. I've used nero recode which seems pretty good and xilisoft which was pretty bad. Just want some opinions on what everyone is using.

    I use Wondershare Video to iPod Converter all the time.
    It provide two encode for you --xVID & H.264
    Moreover, there are many choice about resolution for you.
    I think it can full fill your requirment.
    You can try it by downloading from here

    @trancer70,
    Just download the trial version to have a try. Both cucusoft and PQ are great.

    I've found that Mobile CloneDVD works great to import dvd's while changing the format to MP4 (iPod and PSP format). You can download it from www.slysoft.com
