hey I've been searching for a dsl provider that offers the dsl signal only package i.e. no phone service just the dsl signal and I've been having a hard time. I live in maryland and was wondering if any of you speed demons out there could help choose the right thing. thanx

I've had SBC for six years now, and they're fantastic. in those six years my DSL has gone down maybe 3 times for about an hour due to upgrade/maintenance. I highly recommend them.

BTW, you NEED a phone line to get DSL...thats the whole point. You can't just get a DSL line...the DSL signal is transfered over the standard phone line. Most DSL that does into homes/apartments is called ADSL, for asymmetrical. Meaning that the DSL and phone travel on the same 2-wire line. They switch bak and forth about 10,000 times per second, and then the line is run to a DSL box which separates the two signals. Long story short, you need a phone line for DSL.
