    hey ballz,
I use a number of different programs. superbladepro is a plugin for photoshop cs and paintshop pro. or try ulead photoimpact.
photoshop and paintshop have a number of filters/effects on their own, but superblade pro brings in even more try the following sites
    http://www.ulead.com/runme_ns.htm
    http://www.flamingpear.com/index.html
    adobe.com
    jasc.com
eye candy 4000 it offers different filters/effects as well
I'm sure other people will know some other programs as well.
    Have fun
    hope this helps

Gimp is a great free program for digital picture editing.

Adobe Photoshop or elements and PaintShop Pro are also great products which can do fantastic things to your pictures. but that comes with a price tag unfortunatly.

As for your batteries, 2 sets of rechargables are a must for any keen digital photographer.
