Best Stand-alone player that plays burned Dual Layer and DivX and XviD

I know there is a lot of ranting and raving out there about such players as the DVP642 and some more expensive ones (like from LG for example) However, I was wondering what is a good, solid, reliable stand-alone DVD player that can handle burned dual layer DVD's (+ or -)...(this for the purposes of backing up DVD-9's without the need to compress anything), and then the capability of handling DivX and XviD. Also, if there are some players out there that can handle burned dual layer, how good are they at making the layer change?
