i want to know what is the best way to burn a vcd due to the fact my brothers machine does not support svcd.i have a bunch of movies i want to convert over to vcd format.
"I have a bunch of movies i want to convert over to vcd format" we need more information. What format are these movies recorded on, avi, mov, mpeg, what? If they are recorded in MPEG-1 format are the files "VCD" compliant? If so, just use Nero, VCDEasy or any other program that burns to VCD format CDs. Do not use Nero to encode to a VCD compliant MPEG-1 file. There are encoders out there that provide higher quality results. I prefer TMPGenc, Cinema Craft Encoder (CCE) and Mainconcept Encoder are two additional encoders that can produce quality results (as good as can be expected considering the limitations of the VCD specification.) There are a number of potentially helpfull guides here: http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/ If you use the search function, in this forum you will find a number helpfull posts, I found this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/8587 which seems to be a good guide. If you look thoroughly through this website you will find plenty of information in a number of places. Another good website is www.dvdrhelp.com (formerly www.vcdhelp.com).
thanks Harold i was in a real rush when i wrote this,so it was lacking a little info.the movies i have are in svcd format and i really just wanted to know i i should run it thru tmpg first then use vcdeasy to burn into vcd.
Use VCDEasy. click the tools button and click the mpeg tools button! load the dat file from the mpeg2 folder on your svcd disk into the dat field and type an output for an mpeg file on the mpeg field. click convert. Then run it through TMPGEnc!! have you tried the vcd header trick though?? because then you would be able to play svcd on a player that supports vcd by re-writing the headers on the svcd file to mpeg-1 non standard vcd!
hey Dela thanks for the reply, one question should i not run it thru TMPGEnc first then burn it with vcdeasy.
HEY DELA I KNOW YOU ARE PROBABLY SWAMPED WITH PEOPLE FOR HELP-BUT IN MY LAST REPLY. one question should i not run it thru TMPGEnc first then burn it with vcDEASY.
Please excuse the lateness, the hard drive went down!! lol No you wouldnt because what you are doing is extracting the file from the vcd/svcd disk so it can be used with TMPGEnc or whatever!!
