    I have a Canon ZR200.
Using firewire in the past I had no problems capturing video and sound using WinDV on my PC.
I bought a 4 pin to 4 pin cable for my laptop to do all my capturing and converting from now on. (PC is a 1.2 gig and the laptop is a 3 gig processor, so you can see why I want to use the laptop)
WinDV captures the video alright but no sound is there. So I tried to go back to the PC and do it the long way and guess what... There isn't any sound captured when I use the PC now.
I never had a problem in the past. I think the only thing that has changed on the PC is that I updated the WMP to version 11 since the last time I did DV capturing and converting.
Can anyone help me figure out what I'm missing, or is this some problem inherent with WMP 11 that screws the rest of your system.

It is quite possible that WMP 11 could cause the problem, but that sounds strange. Try rolling back to WMP 10 to see if that clears it up.

Make sure you have the AC3 codec installed.

I have ACE MegaCodec pack installed so the AC3 isn't the problem.
I has to be the new WMP.
Capture works fine with Windows Movie Maker.
I would like to go back to WinDV, but to be honest WMM didn't drop a single frame. I converted with AVS Video Converter at a 8000 kbps bit rate and authored the VOB's with TMPGEnc Author.
Disc looks phenomenal played on my stand alone.
