I just got done putting together my new system. Heres the stupid question (which I shoud know but for some reason I am drawing a blank) do I install the bios for the MOBO first or the OS? I am really feeling dumb for asking this question so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

you do not have to install the bios. it is already on the motherboard. you can go strait to installing the os.

After you are up and running, check the motherboard manufacturer's website, to see if there are BIOS firmware updates, and other updates, for your motherboard.

Great, did all that. Everything seems to be working fine except when I get online. when viewing a page if I try to scroll down (or up) through that page or use the side scroll bar it seems to "lag" throught the page. Any suggestions as to what that might be?

Yea it's your graphics hardware. If you have a graphics card, install the driver software, if your graphics are integrated make sure you installed all of the motherboard drivers.

Great, I bought a new Nvidia Geforce 8300GS 256mb video card but it didn't come with any installation software or drivers. I went on their site and downloaded the latest driver and it totally f'd up everything (graphics were displayed in 4 bit and there was crap reolution and it wouldn't let me change any of it)so I uninstalled the grphics card and driver. I tried to go and find the actual installation software for the card but can't seem to find it. I bought this thing new from Geeks.com but it didn't come with anything. Any ideas of who what where to get what I need?

Go to the nvidia website and download the driver from there. Install it and it should prompt you to reboot. After that, you shouldn't have the lag issue.

    SUCCESS!!!!

I got it working. Still had some problems after hooking it up, downloading the driver and restarting but after playing with the video settings via the Nvidia desktop it works PERFECT (for a cheaper video card). Thanks one and ALL who helped me.
