bigger laptop harddrive

    i got a big harddrive out of a different laptop i cant do a full facttor reset on the harddrive its says i need a disk from the make of the the laptop i am trying to load it on my laptop because it is bigger can it be done

    sata or ide as sounds like a sata drive?

    That sounds rather like the drive isn't in the bios hdd device list... and it might not be in the update (if there is one)

    Why are you trying to do a full factory reset on the drive... that recovers/restores the OS (xp or crapsta) from the existing hdd recovery partition or manufacturers.. or self made.. recovery disks.

    shove the new drive in and boot your os install disk.. or copy everything from the working drive to the already prepared partitioned and formatted drive.. you will need another sata capable pc to do this. (and then wait for 162 system options not set :lol:)

    twiney, when installing windows, are you getting an error message that the hard drive is not found but is seen in the bios?
