I have a eMachine W5243 and I kinda F*** it up.... I tho this would make the RAM increase more but it seem the computer didn't work... Here's what I did: I went to BIOS and i Disabled the Frame Rate or something like that(that start with FRAME), that has 16MB,32MB,64MB,128MB, and 246MB... I disabled it but after restart, it make this PEEEEEEE sound for 2-4 Second and the screen wouldn't turn on and everything load except the screen... I took the CMOS and RAM off for 5 Minutes and put it back on but it's still not working and there's still this PEEEEEE sound... How can I enter the BIOS and change it to 64MB or something because the screen wouldn't show anything and i think it wont work anymore.... Can someone help please.... This 64MB thing is based on the RAM too and i disabled it because i think it would help but instead it F*** up my computer...
I did that, I took the CMOS off more than 2 MIN and i haven't took the power cord off... What would make a different taking the power off and taking the CMOS off than just taking CMOS off? I went to BIOS and i disabled some Frame thing and it's basically base of RAM... How do i reset the CMOS just taking it off and putting it back of?
I took the power off and the CMOS and the RAM off too and waited for about 1 MIN and put it back in which worked ... Thanks, I didn't know taking it off would work tho...
the reason for disconnecting the power cord is that even tho windows shuts down the computer, some computer psu's are still supplying power. i've noticed that with some optical mouses whose laser is still on even tho pc is off. next time do not remove the ram as unnecessary.
Why not? Does all these problems mostly because of CMOS which that save BIOS settings? Does RAM even Matters in these kind of case(problem)? If you took all RAM off, the screen wouldn't turn on and everything else load which happened... when it first happen, i was like What the hell wrong with the "RAM" after disabling some Frame Buffer Size... BTW on my eMachines W5243, i put it at 16MB and Graphic Memory is like low at 250MB(think so)... Does having more Graphic Memory really help the performance or anything?
remove the cmos battery or use the cmos jumper plus removing the power cord is all you have to do. the ram you have is dynamic ram not static ram so when power is turned off, all info in the ram is gone.
But why not CMOS? I don't get why RAM info gone and not CMOS info gone? it has it own memory or what?
light, the frame you refer to, i think is the memory from ram designated towards video memory. often boards of that caliber share the system ram with video chip. also, you should be aware of POST codes. you can tell what one is by the beeps you hear, like 1 long beep, three short beeps would indicate a failure somewhere. motherboard manuals often have a chart.
SO how many kind of beeps mean something? I know 1 long beep is the RAM problem... And umm guys, My cousin brought in a eMachine T5246(kinda like my eMachine W5243) and it got F*** up... IDK if it's a beep or not but it make 1 short beep just right when after clicking the power button and the Windows wont load... I took the CMOS off and power for 20 second and put it back on but didn't work... I tried installing Windows 7 on it but it doesn't seem to work and it has error which i think is the DISK... IDK if it's the PC problem or my Windows 7 wont be able to install because files is currupted but it's really F*** up... This eMachie T5246 also has Recovery Option but somehow it's not doing it job because it's basically the OS isn't working... What's is the 1 short beep for? It kinda sound like restarting and hearing the beep sound....
there are different bios chip manufacturers(award, phoenix & others) thereby there are different beep codes for each of those chips. have to know who makes the chip to find the correct beep code.
Oh, does buying a new CMOS replacing the old one makes anything a different? Also does getting another CMOS from another MoBo make a Different?
cmos battery are mostly the same for all desktop computers & that is a cr2032, about the size of a quarter. cmos chip can be same depending on the board manufacturer but the program will be different from 1 type of motherboard to another even from same manufacturer. there might be a cmos update available that either fixes issues or lets things work now that wasn't available before when a board just goes into production.
