I downloaded escape velocity to play and when i did this a year or so ago it was in a .exe format so i could play it. Now it is in a .bin format and I have not as of yet been able to play it. I have had lots of "expert" advice on how to do this and that, but nothing has worked so far. I have Alcohol 52% and winISO to do w/e those ppl were tellin me to do, but I am slightly handicapped in the brain region and can't seem to figure it out. All I want to do is play this game. HELP!!! the original copy was downloaded a few years ago on a different computer that had restrictions for what sites i could visit and download from. it was restricted from browsing or taking any files from ftp sites, not http. so the original was an executable file. now i am obviously allowed to use ftp and i got the shareware directly from ambrosia itself and it is a *.bin. i don't really know much about converting or being able to use this type. i really love this classic game and would like to play it once again.
well, if you have nero (i dont know if other burning programs have this), you might try setting up "image drive", then burning the .bin file to it (don't know how well this will work without the .cue file, but hey! give it a shot). you'll end up with what appears to the computer to be the original disk. open it (it opens just like a regular cd drive) and install the thing to your comp. you should get the whole game, with the .exe files intact. hope this helps.
i will try nero out. a few others told me to try out alcohol and winiso and daemon tools...none of them seemed to work...or it was my lack of understanding that played a part in the error..i will post as soon as i find nero and download it.. TY!
