Hey! just bought myself a executer 2.3b ship installed it and everything looks GREAT.. but , the guy told me when i bought it that it has no bios on it ... So how da hell do i get the CROMWELL bios on to it`??? Is there anyway of testing if its onboard?
Just by starting up your xbox you'll get to a screen called Cromwell linux or you'll get a black screen... that means the bios is on but you'll have to flash it with a bios that enables you to play backups
nice... ok.. well i get no screen at all.. so that probalby tells me that its ok.. then it probably is the fusking thompson dvd drive that dont take my records.... been trying cd and cdr so far.. no luck
Ok first boot your xbox (with the power button, not the eject)... wait 60 seconds... then press A if your dvd drive ain't open... when it opens pop in the CD-RW or DVD-/+RW you made with the bios named LINUXBIO.BIN on it then press A to close the DVD and wait till the xbox turns off... try with different brands of CDs and DVDs and if it doesn't work try adding afile called DUMMY.BIN (it can be anything and it should be at least 200-300 megs)
okey... i read some where that its not possible to use cd-r , that the xbox only take cd-rw ??.... i will try with some diffrent ones.
That's right! Only CD-RW are accepted unless you got a Samsung drive! Try Memorex CD-RW... they work really great... never had an unreadable disc with these!
Nice thanks man realy help me out alot.. then i can throw all the cdrs out.. but what about dvd+r ?? thats what i got at home...
If there's no bios on the chip you will get a flashing green-red led on your eject button if your not seeing any screen at all and the blue leds are lite on chip then it could be a bad ground, if you did a wire solder then add the last two wire conector and ground the black lead cut the grey to insulate it. make sure you flash with a 2.3 bios I use 4979.06 the 2.3lite comes with cromwell on it. msdash should still work with chip off if not you got other probs
Yeah DVD+R works great... again I've only used Memorex but it should work fine with a lot of brand (Not the really cheap one though, but it's possible)
