hello, my brother gave me a neighbours p.c to look at. it boots up and asks for enter current password?? but there is no password on the system.. it looks like a bios one. gohere to see pics: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=75575881#post75575881 i have taken out the hdd to see if i can boot from dvd drive. and i cant. no matter what i do it just goes to enter current password screen. i have changed loads of cmos batterys before but i cant find it, i am looking for what i know as a cmos battery(see pic cmos) i cant find it) is there a chance the pics cmos 1 & 2 is the cmos, i have never seen one like that before. its soldered on to the motherboard, not like the standard one you just plug in and out of the motherboard by pins. please see attachments. pictures cmos: is what i consider a cmos battery cmos 1 & 2 taken from laptop. i have no experiance at soldering whatsoever so i dont wanna break it. added video link: http://youtu.be/Zq_KEfw71pk i have tried to short out the battery aswell like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNESt8Pi0CQ this also did not work. any help/suggestions
Here's someone who says they can reset it (if it has a system disabled code number). http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ACER-LAPTOP-BIOS-PASSWORD-PASSWORT-UNLOCK-REMOVAL-/270627593501
if you look hard enough you can find the method/program they use. removing the battery will do you no good, the password is stored in the Non Volatile(NVRAM) section of the bios. you can however Erase the NVRAM using a modern/good Bios cracker, with one small downside OEMs store there Certificate License Information in the NVRAM as well. if you erase it you invalidate the OEM CD KEY. luckily DAZ's loader Now has a method to restore Deleted CLI's
