Ok, so I've never really done any bios tinkering with anything made past 2001... And even then the options were slim... I'm looking for info and resources of trusted sites that you afterdawn users use to decide how to set up you bios settings... I started it with Optimized Settings just to get started. Right now I'm using a MSI K9N6SGM-V Motherboard with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition, 2x 2048MB Crucial DDR Ram (677mhz/5400) and a Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive... I'm also using a Cooler Master Vortex 752 (Model RR-CCH-P912-GP) HSF and A Zalman 80mm Case Fan. If you guys have any sources or suggestions to pass on, please do.
Right now I'm not planning to do anything major... just have a SAFE boost in speed. I don't have the best cooling but its running really cool now so I can afford to go a little higher... plus, since its optimized settings, its likely using the safest settings correct?
don't know as i'm not into overclocking. check the overclocking thread above for the info you are looking for.
i have the same cpu as you, and have it running safely at 2.99 Ghz currently. however, the easiest way i've found to OC the cpu is just a little trial and error. i would just start out increasing it a little bit, run it for a day and see what happens. just make sure you monitor your temps and if they get to high, then shut the comp down.
