    Hi all
    don't know if this is the right place/forum to publish this question,
    if not please direct me to the right place.

    i have read that if you change your booktype to dvd-rom(currently i use both -dvd and +dvd)(and i know that once i will change it i will need to use +dvd) you have a better chance to play the disc on older dvd player.

    i am using anydvd+clonedvd2
    HL-ST GSA-4120b (117a firmware)
    is there any possiblity within anydvd or clonedvd to change it?
    or other firmware?

    thanks for any info

    Yes it will work with clonedvd 2,do this, open up dvd decrypter booktype your DVD+R media in that program to DVD-ROM , close out dvd decrypter, open up clonedvd 2 encode and burn and it will come out as DVD-ROM.

    i tried to click on the right button while the pointer is on the destination bar,(changed it to iso write)
    then clicked on:"change book type",clicked on LG" tab,BUT,
    when i try to change it to :" drive(for dvd+r media)"
    i get on the "current setting" "unknown(FAILED!)"
    and nothing appears on the "new setting"

    @aabbccdd,
    I have a GSA-4120B, YES,
    it DOES support Booktype setting to DVD-ROM. Absolutely. Just the facts Man. Just the facts. Really, I have one & it does. Actually a nice drive, only supports bun speeds up to 12x. But Nice Drive nevertheless.

    @bilbo65,
    You know, CloneDVD 2 does not allow booktype setting, I have it, I know. But interestingly, the Back-Ups I've done with CloneDVD 2 have played back in my player just as well as if they were booktyped to DVD-ROM. I use DVD+R Media too. I DO booktype to DVD-ROM when using Nero. But I really like CloneDVD 2 for back-ups. Fast, Easy, and Excellent results!
    Happy New Year!
    P.S. I own several LG Burners, The only one I have that will NOT support booktype setting is the GSA-4160B. Can't booktype with it.
    The GSA-4163B, Yes
    The GSA-4167B new one, Yes.
    Edited for typos.
    My oldest one, GSA-4120B, absolutely Yes it will.

    @bunnyrip

    I only use CloneDVD2 for my burning and my Sony 530a burner does not booktype(that I know of). However using CloneDVD2 for backups on DVD+Rs, my old JVC DVD player, which is not suppose to play +s, has no problem playing them. Interesting, I think.

    And a Happy New Year to each and everyone of you!!!!

    Open Dvd Decrypter
    Go to TOOLS -- Drive --- Check for Firmware Updates

    It will bring you to a web page full of the latest Firmware updates for your DVD+RW drive.. Look for one that says bitsetting or booktype d/l and install the new firmware then you should be able to set it... unless your drive doesn't have a firmware update for it at all

    Yes, Plextor is a good drive but only if you are going to buy the 716A which will allow you to use the PlexTools and booktype automatically. The new Plex 740A is a rebadged BenQ 1640 and will not integrate with PlexTools nor will it do it with BenQ suite, it is strictly OEM. You would be better to just buy a straight BenQ or an LG.
