How can I prevent Nero from changing the booktype? Even though I insert a DVD+, Nero says Booktype automatically set to DVD-ROM. I do not want this because DVD- is slower than DVD+
Bitsetting or the different format of dvd's you're using like - or + R shouldn't make a diff on the speed. Your drive may need a firmware update if one is available - one thing firmware does is give the drive the media codes for the write strategy of the media you are using. If the firmware doesn't have it - it will use a generic write strategy which may slow the burn speed down. But to stop bitsetting go to Burning Rom>choose recoreder>options then change from automatic to physical disc type.
Thank you but I could not find that mentioned menu in Burning ROM. (Btw firmware is up to date) Probably thats because of poor media..
Ok try here (have a disc in the drive) - Go to Tools (ToolKit in Nero 6) then cd-dvd speed. Go to Extra>BitSetting and change it from automatic there. But the poor media is probably why they burn slower.
If you have Nero set to automatic for bitsetting for most drives that support it Nero will automatically booktype the disc to dvd-rom when using +R media. Pick up some better media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell next time and try bitsetting again. Oh and your welcome
