Every time i try and play mpeg files with WMP, my screen usually freezes up and my taskbar starts flickering. When i press CTRL ALT DELETE, things become nice again. I select another mpeg file and to play it. The screen blinks black in incriments of about 5 seconds on 3 seconds off. I really miss being able to play mpegs! Another problem is that i cannot select a group of files and hit ENTER (hoping WMP will play all of my selected files... but it doesn't). I uninstalled and reinstalled WMP several times now and am becoming fairly sure this is not the answer. I got a new video card recently Nvidia 6200 agp but i had not had problems until just recently. Windows 2k WMP 9 series.
sorry to say you must go to windows media player 10 which im sorry to say after sept.1 2006 no longer works on windows 2000 time to upgrade because when vista comes out you must have win xp or vist or longhorn which is t5he latest version of win 2000
BSPlayer will sort out those issues, its a genius player but if its not your cup of tea then you could try updating your DirectX (i assume youvve got the newest gfx card drivers) and see if that helps.
