    Hi,

I have Windows XP Professional. Have been burning a bunch of DVDs (maybe 20 or less) using DVDShrink (via Nero - I have Nero 7 Ultra Edition). Then sometimes just nero. At that time, everytime I insert a blank DVD a window would come out "Blank DVD choose which action etc etc".

Now, when I insert a blank DVD, it says "Blank CD choose which action etc etc". Nero and DVD Decrypter can still recognize the blank DVD and burn.

But I wanna know, why Windows has stopped recognizing the DVD? I also can't do my usual drag and drop to the DVD anymore. When I try to drag and drop it says "Windows has encountered a problem when trying to copy the file".

I have tried several DVDs already and nothing worked. I am not sure how to update the driver nor the firmware. I would appreciate some help! Thanks.

PS: Everything seems normal when I insert a Blank CD.

    Here's some info:
    Drive Information
    ------------------
    Drive : HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4080N
    Type : DVD±R/RW Recorder
    Firmware Version : 0C12

Go to Device Manager, uninstall the drive, and reboot. See if that corrects the problem.

Also, make sure you have the latest firmware upgrade for that burner. The burner could be dying, but I would try a different brand of media, too.
