I've been using dvdfab, shrink, anydvd etc. to backup standard dvd's for the last few years. Thinkin' of getting a blu-ray player(PS3). Can I use the above tools to back up just as I did with standard dvd's? Is it pretty much the same process, of which, I am already familiar?
Shrinking a Blu-ray sort of defeats the purpose of it. If you want to shrink a format, just stick to DVD.
only way to shrink a BD and keep quality is to use the following http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/733781
Yeah, I'm not too tech savvy. I was hoping it would be as easy as 1) inserting a blu-ray movie into my PC 2) burning it onto blank blu ray media 3) playing the burned copy on my HDTV. Just like I do now with standard DVD's. Not quite that easy, I guess, huh. Moreover, it appears rather complicated. You know what I mean...
Im a newbie, Im thick and Im old, I manged to do it ok in the end, its not as hard as it looks, follow the instructiona and its easy. I backed up a bluray to BD25 dead simple, had a few teethers but the sage's here sorted me. Just backing one up to Dual layer disc(8.5gb) to see, brill when you have kids as destructive as mine. Never anything on the BD case about ' Must not be used as a frisbee!'or 'Do not feed to pets'.
