Hello, I currently do not have a laptop, but was in the market for buying one. Now, I already have a 1080p lg tv, however, i do not own a bluray player. So I was shopping around for laptops and noticed that many of them come now with bluray players and hdmi outputs.

Now, the thing is, laptops basically suck for watching movies. Small screens, poor battery, poor display, etc. turns me away from buying a laptop with bluray.

However, I was wondering if the laptop with a bluray drive could be connected to a tv and played in true 1080p format. Basically, my core question is, if I bought a laptop with a bluray drive, could i use that as a bluray player for my tv through the HDMI output and would it display in 1080p on my tv?

Basic thought: I want to use my laptop as a bluray dvd player for my tv.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Yes you can infact for years now you could hook up a laptop via s-video and now Hdmi to a tv and watch movies surfe etc. I built an htpc with blu ray for my hdtv. Make sure the laptop you purchase with a br has hdmi for best quality picture and sound.

Also make sure your laptop has got alot of ram. Because I've got a laptop and sometimes the refresh rate lags when a lot simultaneous movement is going on in a scene or even if the laptop gets too hot. But now it's better cause I've got 4gb ram so I don't notice it as much anymore.
