Ok guys. I have been reading my a$$ off the past few days and have a few questions. I have had no problems using tsmuxer and anydvdHD etc to rip and then strip away unneeded audio and extra video content. I have come across a few that have a few large video files that make of the entire movie. I have read that I should use eac3to and BDinfo and tsmuxer to "merge" the mlps files together to make one complete film. I have been able to find the proper mpls file from BDinfo but when I drag it into Tsmuxer and attempt to "remux" (not sure if that is the right term here) it says that "the file name already exists" although I have named it something entirely different from the source files (mpls). I think I am missing a step as I am not able to get the mpls (although I have figured out which one is the film) to load into Tsmuxer in order to remux it to BDMV and Certificate folders, like I get when I use Tsmuxer after a rip. I have had little luck trying to search using the search feature with words like "merging mpls, building complete bluray, etc". I am still learning and have had success with tsmuxer and would like to merge the mpls files with that program but am seeming to have some user error here Is there some way that I need to load the mpls files into txmuxer besides just dragging it into the program? Is there another easier way to put together a movie with the deleted scenes, a few extras and the complete film to merge them to fit onto a 25GB single layer BD-r? Thanks to all and Im sorry if I have repeated something that Im sure has been covered somewhere in the past. I appreciate all you guys and the great forum you have here. Also I have a few movies where the HD TRUE Audio and the AC3 audios are too big to mux in with the movie (outcome is over 25GB). I have tried Ripbot (2 days of encoding) and it came up with a 9 GB file after I specified for it to fit on a DVD9. I have read that megui may work, but how can I just shrink the audio and then put it in with the lossless VC1 Bluray video? I am confused as I have about 3-4 of these movies on my Hard drive and I just want to shrink them slightly to fit on a 25GB without loss of quality. I have read and read but I cannot find a tutorial that I can understand (maybe Im dumb) that specifically deals with just shrinking audio and then using Tsmuxer to make it to a bluray compliant movie (BDMV and Certificate folders). I appreciate all of you and hope someone can help me with these last few steps I am missing with large movies. If I can just master these last few steps, I shouldnt have anymore issues with movies that just wont fit on a 25GB or even better a DVD-9 without loss of quality.
You don't merge MPLS files, you add the one MPLS file that contains the main movie information in tsMuxeR, then demux to whole raw streams, or remux to m2ts or Blu-ray. You can use the "down to" option to use only the core audio (from the HD audio), this will save 1-3 GB however no HD audio obviously. You can use Ripbot264 to compress the video, I'm not sure if you can use custom video sizes or not, in MeGUI you can specify what video size you need... either way you will not notice the quality loss if a good profile is used. If you are working with a seamless branching title, eac3to is the preferred app to append the files that make the whole movie, it's the only app that does this properly by fixing any gaps/overlaps between the m2ts files. After eac3to is done demuxing you can use tsMuxeR to make your new Blu-ray structure.
Thanks Odin for your quick response. I understand what you mean about only adding the one mpls file (as I have done for the movie forgetting sarah marshall) which has seamless branching with all the extras it must have I found that mpls 90 is the one I needed. I have tried to load this into tsmuxer and mux it, but it gives me the message that the file with the same names already exist. I have also tried to download and install eac3to and it just runs a install wizard followed by a black dos screen and then it goes away. It seems no program was installed for me to use. Is there some prerequisites to installing that program in order for it to run on Windows XP? I really appreciate your time man, and cannot say how much it means to have an expert like yourself helping me thru this stuff that is driving me crazy now. LOL! I will try megui with Ryu77's profile. Is there a link you can provide me (not the one to ryu77's long post about encoding, as I have already read thru that one many times and still have problems) to show how to best use megui to shrink a bluray movie to fit on a DVD9 or at worst a BR-R 25GB? I just want to shrink it enough to fit without any quality loss. Is that possible with movies that have seamless branching in them? I have like 5 of these movies that I want to back up, but I am at a loss of how to load it properly into the program and set it to encode just enough to fit on a BR-R single layer. Thanks again!
eac3to.exe is not an installer... like a typical .exe file. It's a command line app, you need to run it from cmd.exe. I believe in XP it is from the start menu, then "Run". There are GUIs for it but I prefer the command line approach. Really, it's fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it, I suggest you learn. Go here for eac3to's full capabilities. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966 Also, at the beginning of the link below there is a download that consists of a fairly detailed guide and all of the apps required compress and convert everything about BD and HDDVD. I believe there is a better GUI bundled for eac3to too. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346 direct link Some of the apps might be a little out dated as they are always being revised. Most of them originate from the Doom9 forum, I suggest you start frequenting over there too if you are serious about this hobby.
So for these special movies that have seamless branching for extras, is eac3to the only program I can use to put them together without gaps and problems with playback? I want to be able to load the mpls file into tsmuxer and just mux it back together and create a bluray structure. Cant I do that without having to use a command line program (as I am not very good with dos)? I still cannot understand why tsmuxer is telling me that the file name already exits, no matter what I name it or where I output the files. Has anyone else encountered that? I want to shrink the TRUE HD audio to AC3 on some movies, is there a program with a GUI for noobs to be able to shrink just the audio and then mux it back in with the VC1? Will MeGui do that? I went to your links but I do not see where I the information is for doing these specific 2 steps. If I can just shrink the audio and remux and also put a movie back together that have seamless branching then I will be set. I am totally confused on how megui will take a mpls file? Where do I input it? Its asking for AV script and I assume that is where I load Ryu77's script? After that how do I build the movie together? I have read thru the tutorials but I cannot see a tutorial about seamless branching movies. Does a tutorial exist for these buggers of seamless branching or people that cannot seem to shrink the audio only so it will fit on a 25GB disk? Sorry but I am still confused here. thanks to all!
