Hi, In a previous post I was advised to upgrade my system, which I did whith a very sophisticated motherboard, 512 mb of Ram, 120 GB of hard disk space, P4 2.4 G, and a brand new cd writer from 4X to 52X. Now, I converted the AVI files into MPEG 1 using NTI CD-Maker (which is very fast) and then I used NERO (once by 5.5 full and another by 6 trial, then a third time by NTI itself) yet all three attempts failed and my DVD player could not identify the CD, although it is a sony and it indicated in the info that it can play VCD , SVCD and also with PBF (playback functin). Please help, I dont know what went wrong, but the CDs play on my PC using both Nero media player and windows media player ( I have to browse for the proper file on the CD to open, it does not autorun). Thanks for this great site, and look forward to get an answer if possible. p.s. The minimum burning speed for my CD writer is 4X, (1X and 2x do not exist) could that be the problem, and if so, what can I do? I just bought the damn thing. Osama
hmm it sounds like to me that you have a DVD player problem. It's not uncommon for people to have SVCD that will play on one DVD player and not another. I would recommend getting an Apex DVD player. The reason I say it is they relatively cheap. They for about fourty bucks and that most likely will solve your problem. I have two Apex players and I have never had problems with any movie on them. I also have a Sony and Pansonic player that are picky sometimes on what movies they want to play. Good news is it sounds like you are burning and encoding okay if they are playing on your computer!
Thank you Phantom for your insight, I guess that must be it, a DVD player. Previously I burned some music CDs that played perfectly on my home sound system and my car's CD player, and when I inserted into the DVD player (for testing it) since it is abled to play CDs it could not identify the CD (no disc) although it did play the ready made (purchased) music CDs. However, I will continue trying to toy around with the formating of the mpg files, and testing, may be something will click, and I will also chek the Apex DVD. Thanks again Osama
