I am trying to learn to booktype my + media.I have been reading but I am still confused. I have a NEC 3500AG drive flashed with Liggy and Dees firmware 2.1A I have also tried Maddogs firmware.I am useing Nero burning rom 6.3.1.17.After I burn a dvd I go to dvd identifier. After the booktype it says dvd+r. Shouldnt it say dvd-rom?The icons in Nero confuse me. Instead of useing the dvd-video icon I use the dvd-rom icon. by the way what are the dvd-rom(UDF) and dvd-rom(UDF/ISO) mean? How else can I tell if I have booktyped a disk? Also when I pick dvd-rom in Nero it says at the top ISO1-DVD what does the 1 mean? Thanks for your responce.
update your nero 6.6.0.16 is newest, download and install to set booktype in nero, go to start, all programs, nero, nero toolkit, nero cd-dvd speed, click on extra tab, click on bitsetting(booktype) and change to dvd-rom. peace
I did do some reading and I saw your insructions before but when I cick on the extra tab the only thin not grayed out is advanced DAE quality test and it sends you to error test. Of all the grayed out topics under the extra tab bitesetting or booktypeing are not there! This is why I asked the questions. Which icons do i pick in Nero?
I figured it out myself. If cd-dvd speed wont let you select bitesetting and you dont want to do a full update, there is a file called nero cd-dvd speed update by itself. It will let you choose bitesetting dvdr+dvdrw+.
Download this Booktype utility for your 3500a http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/utilities/WinBTypeV2.zip
I already tried that but Nero would keep it from burning dvd-rom but when I downloaded Nero cd-dvd speed update it let me choose booktype as default. That fixed it.
I'm glad you have it working. I have a few of the NEC 3520 drives and they all have Liggy & Dee's latest firmware. I use the WinBtype utility. I have never touched the bitsetting in Nero. When I go to Nero CD-DVD speed it say that it is Booktyped DVD-ROM. Don't delete the Booktype utility. It will come in handy if you use another burning program that might not have Booktype/Bitsetting capabilities.
