i have server 2003 file in the form of an iso file and i want to make it a bootable disk so i can install it on a formatted hd, anyone know how that's done?
Hmmmm... That is odd, I don't remember Microsoft ever releasing that as an ISO image (I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure). The best way is to install from the CD that your boss made the ISO from (or did he "aquire" the ISO from somewhere else and not have the CD available??). And you have to ask this question!!!! Why does this not seem to hang together too well?? Maybe it is just me and my suspicious mind

Well done, you found an answer to your problem!!! Easy, wasn't it? So how long HAVE you worked in your firm's I.T. dept.? And why not install from the Original, licenced CD instead of a "suspect" ISO? An ISO is suspect because there are two steps involved during which there are numerous circumstances where errors or corruption could be introduced: 1 - creation of the ISO. 1.1 - reading the original (many ISO creation programs when reading the original do not always handle read errors correctly - dirty disk, glitch in the O/S on the computer doing the reading, virus, trojan, in fact ANY of the myriad problems that can befall all Windows system - as you are using Nero, you are using Windows QED) 1.2 - hard drive failure (soft failure/hard failure), apply the caveats in 1.1 2 - writing the ISO 2.1 - all the caveats stated in 1.1 2.2 - PLUS the fact that the CD Writer may introduce faults, the CD blank media may have a fault, and most importantly, when burning an ISO image with Nero, there is NO VERIFICATION FACILITY - therefore: unless you use a third party verification program to verify the burn was correct, you may have a faulty burn (all the caveats in 1.1 apply here also) 3 - UNLESS you yourself created the ISO from the Original on a KNOWN, TRUSTED and GOOD system, you are totally dependant upon the knowledge, goodwill, trustability, professionalism and integrity of WHOEVER supplied the ISO to you (assuming they created it), that extends to whoever supplied THEM with the ISO. See the point of 3. The longer you work in I.T. the less trusting and naive you will become, there are LOTS of pitfalls for the unwary - illegal software (you wrote a copy, you are criminalised, no excuses like "my boss told me to") - trojanned software (the company you work for could lose LOTS of money etc from that, the bosses would not be the one getting a world of hurt for that, YOU would be the scapegoat, the one being sued) - viruses (same as for trojanned) Oh yeah, you said: Note the plural, you are not the only one there - I find it incredible that a WHOLE I.T. dept is unaware of the methodologies of ISO creation/use/burning, along with the pitfalls. Unless of course YOU were given that as a test, and everyone else in the dept was not going to help you - then it might have made sense for you to have said so. Otherwise the whole thing is real suspicious.... Have Fun....
