I recieved a broken xbox off a friend, the version is 1.3. When I tried to fire it up , the lights came on (solid green) but no sound, picture or dvd access. Played with the power button on and off (approx. 20 times) and it booted to the Exvox screen!(ver. 3935) When I rebooted it started the same problem all over again. Unpluged the power ,held power and eject buttons for 30 secs, plugged it back in and played with power button for about five times and it booted up again in to Evox. The kernal and msdash are 5101/5960. In Evox, it says "bios unknown". I've backed up the HDD and eeprom to my pc via FTP. Does anybody have an Idea as to why it's such a hassle to boot ? I can't even get the splash screen with the MS logo. If I unplug the drives and power it on, the lights come on (solid green), but still no splash screen with logo. Could it be the eeprom, TSOP, or the BIOS? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
try using shadymans ready made softmod files just delete your old files off hard drive (everything c/e) ftp them strait over and boot up the box and if it is just the same swap back PS make sure you have your eeprom and hard drive backed up before trying
If I was to uplugged the HDD , ...shouldn't I see the splash screen(withMS logo) still? Cuz I can't. And on my buddy's 1.6 xbox, he will still get the splash screen even if the hdd is unplugged. The reason I ask is because I have a feeling the problem is before the hdd.
I had a similar problem when I softmodded a friend of mine xbox. Although, I did see the splash screen with the microsoft logo, I didnt have sound or DVD access. Im pretty sure that you not seeing the splash screen is something wrong with the Bios. What I did and I would suggest to try is just getting an auto installer ( slayer's, etc) and just reinstalling everything (If possible I would highly reccomend playing with it to get it on again and saving a backup on to your pc, eeprom and such....)
