Ok some great person on here last year helped me with my family dell removing every piece of junk of my computer. Java is way out of date. Still having version 4.0 is a [bold]major[/bold] security issue. Go here and download Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall all previous version and updates of JRE. Restart and install Update 9. Run CCleaner to clean temp files and cookies. Go here and download [bold]CCleaner[/bold]. [bold]Note[/bold]: If you do not want [bold]Yahoo! Toolbar[/bold] uncheck the option when installing. Close all windows. Open [bold]CCleaner[/bold]. Click [bold]Options[/bold] > [bold]Advance[/bold] > uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours". Click Cleaner > [bold]Run Cleaner[/bold]. Have you run an online scan to see if it can pick up anything? If not, go here to run [bold]Kaspersky Online Scanner[/bold]. After downloading, click "[bold]My Computer[/bold]" to scan. Thanks for all this help. If you see the norton stuf on there i installed it today cause my dads work gave it to him. The only thing I couldn't get working was the kaspersky online scanner. When I hit accept on the site nothing would happen on both this pc, my other one, and my mac. Well here's a new hjt log. Kaspersky not working on all three computers sounds like an IE settings issue. Just run ActiveScan instead. Go here to run [bold]ActiveScan[/bold]. Click "[bold]Panda ActiveScan[/bold]. Fill in the form with your information. After downloading, click [bold]My Computer[/bold] to scan. When it finishes, click "[bold]See Report[/bold]". Click "[bold]Save report[/bold]" and save it to the desktop. Post the log in your next reply. Edit: Oops, I looked over something the first time. It's okay though 'cause you don't need any backups of what you fixed. But for future fixes you will need backups to be created. HijackThis is running from a temp folder. Extract the HijackThis file from the zip folder to a permanent one, that way backups will be created when you fix an entry.

Looks good. That computer is clean. I'm not sure where the slowness is coming from, but you can(if you want) take these off startup. These are optional fixes. Zone Alarm does use a lot of resources, but is worth giving up those resources to be safe. I really don't know of any firewalls that don't have high resource usage. And now that you have installed Norton that machine will crawl. Norton is resource hog, and a weak resource hog if I say so myself! Personally, I wouldn't even let Norton see my computer. But it's all in personal choice...I guess. Maybe think about switching from Windows Defender. It can slow a computer down too. There are many other, better, anti-spyware programs available...but then, yet again, we start getting into personal choice...
I agree the computer has good ram and good proccessor. I know theres ton of better programs then norton and notice i have never used them before and was fine.
