now i know this is a little newbie but i need help.... i'm trying to bridge connections with my computer and my Ps2 like this... i have my computer hook up with a ethernet port that is going to my router and i got a section ethernet port going to my Ps2 and i bridged the connections and then i try to get online with my PS2 and it sayed "Network Cable Disconnected" can anyone help me??
I haven't yet set up a PS2 on a router, but from what I understand (like the XBOX) you're supposed to set it up similar to your computer. Setting the IP address, subnets, gateway...etc. A bit confused though, it sounded like you're trying to connect the PS2 to the computer...what do you mean "bridged the connections"?
it's like this i have my internet cable going form my router to my computer on my frist internet port on my computer.... and my 2section port on my computer is going to my Ps2
Get your ps2 connected to the pc first...unless you have a connection there it's a waste of time. All I know about the ps2 networking is you need to set it up static..follow an xbox guide for settings and it should work. You will need a xover cable for direct connect to pc..straight thru for a router, with the ps2 set to dynamic (dhcp).. When you get a connection that way then go into windows.start>control panel>network connections..then highlight the one connected to the internet and select properties... share this connection, or something like that, and it should work. If it still refuses check firewall and if still no go try without a gateway entry in tcp/ip settings for card 2 Not bad for somebody who hasn't done any windows networking for 12 months....
Why do you want to bridge your connection ? Because connecting your ps2 to your router would be less troublesome, not to mention it would improve your connection, when compared to a bridged one.
