So my laptop dc jack has broken a couple of times, each time it has broken geek squad fixed it. Im having problems again, this time they told me that it was probley my adapter. The metal head on my adapter is bent. If I wiggle the the adapter at a certain angle it will switch from dc to battery power. If its in another angle, it works fine. My question is there a way to tell if its my adapter or if its the jack in my laptop? Thanks!

It sounds like maybe the metal tip may have broke inside of the molded plastic on the end of the adapter. More than likely one of the wires came loose from the metal tip inside. You can try and hold the metal tip in the jack on the laptop with one hand so it doesn't move and wiggle the outside plastic part with the other and see if you get a connection that way.It could also be one of the wires broken going into the molded plastic on the adapter plug. Maybe you can borrow an adapter from somewhere to try it and see if it works.
