Ok so one day there was a pretty bad storm and my power went out. well i went to play my xbox the day after and it wouldnt turn on... i have no clue what to do. by the way it was obviously plugged in during the storm directly to an outlet. Well I was wondering a few things

    1) What do you think is wrong???

    2) if I proceed to open it and find a problem, will it be cheap to replace??

    any help is greatly appreciated

Power surge will have blown the Varistor on the front of the power supply, you need a new PSU!

You can get a second hand one pretty easy, eBay would be your best bet! If all else fails, buy a broken xbox that still powers on! You'll need to get the correct version of your xbox though as they have different connectors!

If your connector looks like this you have a v1.0\1.1

    Then...

If it looks like this then you have a v1.2-1.5

Yep, but make sure you don't get a 1.6 PSU, they are missing a few connections in it...
