I am updating my 5.1 surround sound system speakers. I have a Dennon amp and just bought a Pioneer 5020 plasma. The Bose system that was in the house when we bought it has always left me flat. I finally convinced the wife to approve the new speaker purchase but she has me on a fairly tight budget with the speakers so the system I WANTED is out of the question. I have settled on Martin Logan in ceiling Helos 10's for my rear channels. I have a pair of Definitive Technology ProCinema 1000's for L&R and a DT Pro Cinema 2000 for center. The missing piece is the subwoofer. This sound system is both home theater and audio system (CD and iPod dock) so I need a good subwoofer for both music needs (tight fast response time) and home theater (floor shaking). The seating area is fairly close to the speakers (only about 9 feet) but the room is very open as my living room opens to my kitchen, so there is a lot of space for the sound to diffuse into. The 2 subs I am looking at are a Martin Logan Dynamo (10" down firing) or a REL T3 (dual 8"). I must admit on music tracks the REL sounds very impressive (sounds bigger than it is) but I am not sure how this will perform in my home (large space). The ML is ~$650 and the REL is about $550. Leaning towards the REL due to cost but wondering if anyone has an opposing recommendation or an alternate suggestion in the same price range. Going higher than $650 is not an option due to the wife's wishes on the budget (she is pretty upset about the $650 to be honest)! Thanks
Hi, please take a look at this site. They have have an array of powered subs (although my endo prefers JL audio f-113 fathoms http://home.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?prod_id=371) http://www.hsuresearch.com/ http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html Jo
