Probably not the best forum to ask for help in this matter, but hey. So I recently moved into a house with a finished basement. And for some reason it has bugs. Those roly-poly, pill bug thingos. And also black spiders about the size of a thumbnail. Any Idea on how to get rid of them? Thanks.
For the spiders, here's a recipe I found on the internet. "Mix coconut oil and some white vinegar and put into a spray bottle." That should work. Many people said it does. They also said it's also good for outdoors, too. And for the Roly-polys, I think regular bug repellent would work fine.
i hosed the basement out, then just kept lights on. you'd be amazed how fluorescent lighting keeps the bugs away.
@Aus, the basement is finished with carpet etc. So hosing down would be... a bad idea to say the least. I just bought some black flag insect killer. The is no wooden finish between the carpet and the wall, so I'm going to try and seal that with some kind of sealant or something. Then I'm going to acryllic the window because they are very tightly set into the wall. And I'm just going to spray that bugspray as much as I can and then cross my fingers it doesn't kill me. @Creaky Thanks for the help XD
Hey.. before you go committing genocide have you ever considered how the bugs might feel? I can guarantee they evolved before humans were thought of, and have just as much right, if not more to use your basement. Prior to it being done up/carpeted and whatever it was probably a nice dark cold place, and their home.. Then along comes some evolutionary n00b who is in the middle of causing the biggest mass extinction event this planet has ever seen and decides that the bugs have no right to be there.. I bet the bugs will be about long after there is no trace of humans left, so leave em alone.. We can learn from these little critters.
xD But I have arachnaphobia... I guess I can live with bugs, but no arachnids... "ooohh look at me,I have eight legs, I'm soo much better than you! lalalal!" xD
Kill more annoying pests... like ME! YAY! I know the fear is irrational but still they are creepy as hell.
