I need a little help. I am building one for my father in law. I'm going to have a total of 6 DVD burners. 1 to act as the Master and the other 5 to make copies. I understand I should buy a PCI card for the additonal ATA devices (DVD drives) as the motherboard will only take 4. Correct me if I am wrong here. My main question is power supply. How much power and where can I find one with enough power connections for all drives? All the ones I've looked at seem to come up short. Thanks.
motherboard can run 4 ide drives & pci controller cards can run 4 ide drives. you'll need at least a 6 5.24" bays for the burners. try this program to calculate the wattage of the psu & add 30% to the total. also can use splitters to hook up power to drives http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/Power_Supply_Calculator.php?cmd=INTEL
I looked at that. My concern was having enough molex connectors from the PSU. Most have have 5. I would need at least 6. Do I simply buy a splitter to make 1 into 2?
