building a home server from and old pc

    i have an old pc just lying around and wanted to turn it into a home server... the only thing is i dont know where to start... i want to use it to transfer files from one pc to another, be able to share my torrents, and obviously for storage... can anyone point me in the right direction? like a like to a tut. or anything will help... also i am using vista on a notebook and xp on 2 ohters

    It all comes down to setting up network shares on your drives really. Enable sharing and then give access to the other users on your network.
