I have an old PC that I would like to basically turn into a network attached storage (NAS) device. I have another older PC I have pretty much done this with. Basically, I installed XP Professional and then just "shared" all the internal hard drives (4 of them) over my network. It has worked for the most part, but I'm wondering if I can do this idea slightly different on this other PC. Is there any way of making it so all the drives in the NAS PC appear as ONE drive over my network? I realize Windows Server 2003, 2008 or WIndows Home Server probably accomplish this (in addition to many other features), but I was hoping I could get this one feature through XP Professional somehow. Any suggestions?
with NTFS you can mount disk partitions as folders within other NTFS drives, eg: disk 1 = c:\ disk 2 = c:\videos\ disc 3 = c:\music\ disc 4 = c:\pictures\
